RENEWING ONE'S MIND

In this the Grace Period, which is also known as the Church Administration or the Spiritual Period when a person is born again/saved God’s way – (Romans 10:9,10) they still have the same mind that they had before. God works with "spirit" because that is His realm. Men & Women work with their "mind and flesh" because that is their realm. After salvation, the mind of a person must be renewed by the person themselves if they are to release the "spiritual power" they have received from God when they received the Holy Spirit of promise, which is to become born again/saved God's way.

What does it mean to "renew one's mind" It means to change your way of thinking which is to hold the Rightly Divided Word of God in your mind and act accordingly. The Greek word from which "renewed mind" was translated from is 'metamorphoo' which literally means "transfigured" or "transformed." You, as a born-again believer, are to get a new form, a new view of yourself in your mind. Not one of defeat and frustration but rather one of complete victory regardless of the circumstances.

Romans 12:1&2 - "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

How is a person to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God? Simple, by "renewing their mind".

Romans 13:14 - "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ ...."

"Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ."  This is works. It cannot be referring to salvation because salvation comes by grace - "not of works, lest any man should boast."  Where can a person put on the Lord Jesus Christ? In their mind as we are instructed to do by God through the Apostle Paul - "Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ" in the mind.

Ephesians 4:22 & 23 - "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind."

What is the "old man"? The old man is a figure of speech meaning the old ways of thinking and living which a person was doing before being born again.

Ephesians 4:24 - "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."

The Holy Spirit in you is the "new man" which a person receives only when they are born again/saved by the step-by-step instructions found in God's glorious, matchless Rightly Divided Word of truth.

One renews their mind by changing their way of thinking, which is to hold the Rightly Divided Word of God in their mind and then live accordingly. When a person has done this, they will then be able to walk by the power of God for now their mind is in harmony with the Holy Spirit in them.

Ephesians 4:25 - "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another."

NOTE - In the above scripture reference the word 'neighbor' was translated from the New Testament Greek Words - 'ho plesion' which means - 'the one near or close to you'.

If this word 'neighbor' used here meant 'the one dwelling around about you' the New Testament Greek Word that would have been used would be 'perioikos' not 'ho plesion'.

Plus, if the word ‘neighbor' used in Ephesians 4:25 meant 'your fellow countrymen' the New Testament Greek Word that would have been used to translate it from would have been 'geiton' instead of 'ho plesion'.

When you become born again/saved, who is the one nearest or closest to you? That's right - your brothers and sisters in Christ. After all, you are now of the household of God, right?

Thus, the accurate translation of Ephesians 4:25 is - "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his brothers and sisters in Christ for we are members one of another."

Ephesians 4:27-30 - "Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, (the phrase 'corrupt communications' mentioned above IS NOT cursing or vile language. The word ‘corrupt’ was translated from the New Testament Greek Word 'sapros' meaning bad, decayed or disintegrating referring to the teaching of religion instead of the Rightly Divided Word of God. Most religious organizations have made God's Word of no effect by destroying or disintegrating the truth found in God's Word through their traditions and religiosity that they speak. If corrupt meant cursing it would be translated from 'katara' instead of 'sapros'.) but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."

What is it to "grieve the holy Spirit of God"?  What is the context? Ephesians is speaking of the renewed mind. To grieve the Holy Spirit of God is for a person not to renew their mind after being born again/saved of God's Spirit - to keep the same old mind they had before - to continue stealing, lying, cheating and teaching religiosity.

Ephesians 4:31 & 32 - "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Why is it that born-again/saved believers sometimes find it difficult to forgive? Because they do not fully realize that God has completely forgiven them. This is part of the renewed mind.

The following scriptures also refer again and again to the renewed mind.

Philippians 2:5 - "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."

That is the renewed mind. Christ always did the will of the Father. He always carried out God’s Word perfectly. When we let Christ's way of thinking be in us, we will have a perfectly renewed mind.

Colossians 3:5-11 - "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; (in other words, get rid of your old ways which is to crucify or mortify the old man by getting rid of ) fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence [lust] , and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, teaching religiosities. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him (God) that created him (Christ Jesus): Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all."

For earthly practical purposes, one's power remains dormant until activated by renewing their mind and acting with the renewed mind. Then the power becomes manifested in the senses realm in which they live.

Colossians 3:12-17 - "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any even as - God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you -, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity [the love of God in the renewed mind], which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly [in your mind] in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

To renew one's mind a person must start at the beginning. First, they must "confess the Lord Jesus Christ" and "believe that God raised Him from the dead". Then they must put God's thoughts in their mind as God expressed Himself in His Word. How is a person going to learn to walk with the greatness of the power of God unless they begin to put God's Word in their mind and try to live by it. One learns to live God's Word by simply walking by the instructions given in God's Rightly Divided Word of Truth.

A person must study the Word of God, not listen to what people say about The Word. What does God say?

People, Live the Word. To put it in your mind is not enough.  You have to work at it. This process of building Christ in your mind is a deliberate process that you must do by your freedom of will. You determine that you are going to send the information from God's Word to your mind and that you are going to live it. To live by believing means to walk moment by moment all day long by the rightly divided Word of God. The decision remains with you whether you are going to walk by the five senses of the world, which is the old man, or by the rightly divided Word of God, which is the guidance for new man. If you walk by the rightly divided Word of God, you can't help but manifest the greatness of the awesome power of the True God, God Almighty!
